Head of Payments - Europe, Middle East and Africa, PayPal

Luke Olbrich is the Head of PayPal’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) core payments business.  In this role, Luke is responsible for the core payments business managing the multiple payment providers for the PayPal network, the largest electronic wallet provider in Europe.  His role includes the management of all vendor and network business for both ACH and card payments for PayPal across the region.  Additionally he and his team provide leadership and support within PayPal to engage and work with regulatory and other public institutions (SEPA migration, PSD, etc…) and for supporting PayPal’s growth strategies for innovative payment solutions and new PayPal market entry strategies, that securely and directly enable “Connected Commerce” between millions of PayPal merchants and consumers in the EMEA region, billions of times a year.

Previously, Luke managed MasterCard Worldwide’s core credit business and rewards, loyalty, customer service, insurance and benefits business for the Europe region based in London.  Before this role, Luke spent over 10 years in MasterCard’s Brussels regional HQ managing the company’s Maestro and Debit MasterCard debit card and ATM business across 54 countries in Europe including marketing, public affairs, SEPA compliance, operations, and product development. He started with MasterCard in their New York Headquarters in Operations and held a number of other roles from Franchise Management, Retailer Acceptance, amongst others.

Luke began his career at Chemical Bank in New York City as part of their Management Trainee Programme and is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and also a Master’s of Arts candidate in History at Harvard University.
