Dan is Managing Director of the New Business & Net Zero business and a member of the Leadership Team at Centrica PLC. Within this role, he is responsible for driving the transition to net zero amongst Centrica’s 10 million customers and beyond.
Prior to this role, Dan was Director of Strategy, working closely with the CEO, leadership team and board to set overall strategy and support Centrica’s family of businesses in executing this.
Dan is also non-executive Chairman of Windmill Hill Asset Management, an investment company that manages a family endowment fund.
Dan has a wealth of strategic and commercial experience in both the public and private sectors including government, banking, advisory and charity organisations.
From December 2020 to February 2022, Dan served as Chief of Staff to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, working across all government policy and delivery priorities.
From 2016 to 2019, Dan was a partner at Hakluyt, a strategic advisory firm. Dan advised UK and European corporates and financial institutes on strategy performance, reputation and risk management.
From 2011 to 2016, Dan was Managing Director, UK Investment Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He provided corporate finance advice and solution to UK corporate clients across a broad range of sectors, including banking, healthcare, telecoms and privatisations.
From 2000 to 2011, Dan was a civil servant at HM Treasury with experience across public spending policy, tax policy and the budget, financial services policy and major infrastructure projects. From 2007 to 2011, he served as Principal Private Secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
From 2016 to 2020, Dan served as Chair of the Board of Trustees of World Jewish Relief, the British Jewish Community’s humanitarian agency. He helped shape a strategy to support the world’s poorest Jews, primarily in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, and to respond to international disasters with the support of the UK Jewish community.
Dan was awarded a life peerage in June 2023 and sits as a member of the House of Lords.
