Saj has more than 30 years of global digital & marketing experience, with senior roles in healthcare, mobile telecommunications, consumer, retail, and financial services.
Saj has recently joined the team at Santander UK as their Chief Customer Innovation Officer. Saj’s key purpose is to drive customer engagement and innovation across all the customer journeys. Joining the banking industry at this time of enormous disruption and change is an exciting challenge and one which is likely to see some innovative and different moves from customer experts across the industry.
Prior to joining Santander UK, Saj was the Chief Marketing Officer at Alshaya Group. He was responsible for Corporate Communications, Group Customer Service, Corporate Marketing & the Customer Relationship Management & Digital teams.
Saj was also Managing Director of Marketing, Sales and Strategy Director at Bupa UK, where was responsible for sales, marketing, brand, digital, insight and commercial strategy for the organisation’s insurance, care, clinic, and hospital businesses across the UK.
Previously Saj was employed as Group Marketing Director at Vodafone, working with Vodafone markets globally to execute a multi-channel customer strategy including a total overhaul of retail stores and digital channels, as well as implementation a of global customer relationship management (CRM) capability. Saj was also responsible for Vodafone’s global brand strategy, defining and implementing a new global creative platform while with the company.
While engaged as the RAC’s sales and marketing director, Saj led a major turnaround of the organisation’s brand and commercial performance across the UK, culminating in the RAC’s sale to a private equity group.
Saj spent 10 years at American Express, leading enterprise product development, establishing new digital channels and building a new, global CRM programme. Saj has also worked with Visa Europe, where he was focused on product management, development, and marketing.
Saj is married with two children. He likes keeping fit, reading and finding obscure music and fashions from the 1960s and 1970s.
