Renier Lemmens

Renier Lemmens Is Director of the Centre for Digital Banking and Finance at LIBF where he also serves as Visiting Professor of FinTech and Innovation. Renier is a Venture Partner with DN Capital where he focuses on originating and developing fintech investments, and supporting portfolio companies. He is serving as Chairman of a number of Fintech start-up companies including TransferGo, Divido, and Mojo Mortgages. He is also a non-executive Director at Arion Bank, where he serves on the Board Audit Committee and Board Risk Committee. Until recently, Renier served on the board of Revolut.

Renier has held a number of CEO and COO roles with large financial institutions. He served as CEO of PayPal EMEA and was a member of the global PayPal management team. Renier was COO of the International Retail and Commercial Banking division at Barclays Bank. Before this role he was Chairman and CEO of Budapest Bank, then owned by GE Capital. He was an officer of GE Capital where he also served as SVP Business Development for The Americas. Before his career as an operator, Renier was a partner with McKinsey & Company in London, New Delhi, and San Francisco, where he was one of the partners responsible for McKinsey’s incubator. In between his executive roles Renier had stints in private equity.

Renier has worked and lived in Europe, Asia and North America. Beside his native Dutch he is fluent in English, French and German and has a working knowledge of Spanish. Renier obtained a degree with distinction in Computer Science from Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD (France)
