Paddy McGuinness is Senior Adviser at Brunswick Group, the international Critical Issues firm. He advises on Crisis and Resilience issues. He works with regional and specialist leads across Cyber, Litigation, Geopolitical, Activism and Regulatory Affairs.
From 2014 – 2018, Paddy was the UK’s Deputy National Security Advisor for Intelligence, Security and Resilience advising two successive British Prime Ministers. He covered the UK’s National Risk Assessment and ability to respond to and recover from all hazards and threats, national crisis coordination, cyber strategies and programmes, counter terrorism, countering hostile state activities, the security of critical national infrastructure, and issues with inward investment.
In Government, Paddy oversaw crisis response to state cyber actions including Dridex and Wannacry attacks on the National Health Service and Russian origin compromise of telecommunications networks. With Brunswick, he supports clients globally on ransomware, data loss and product vulnerability. In 2020/21 alone, this included the finance, healthcare, retail, manufacturing and data processing sectors on three continents.
Away from Brunswick, Paddy works on technology innovation. He is a co-founder of Oxford Digital Health and is on the advisory boards of Venari Security, Glasswall Solutions, Kazuar Advanced Technologies and Blackout Technologies.
