With over 25 years of experience in national and multinational financial institutions, Edy Tuhirman has expertise in insurance, banking and finance, capital markets, and corporate governance. He dedicated more than 10 years of his career in pioneering and developing the insurance industry by spearheading the bancassurance business of one of Indonesia’s largest banks. Armed with these experiences he joined Generali Indonesia as Chief Executive Officer and has since successfully established Generali to become one of the most respected insurance companies in Indonesia. Under his leadership, Generali Indonesia has grown exponentially since its inception in 2009 to finally reaching IDR 2 trillion in revenue in 2015, with CAGR of 139%. He invented Auto Risks Management System (ARMS), a feature to automatically control investment risks for unit link product, the first system in Indonesia. The success was also recognized by others, as Generali Indonesia was awarded five prestigious awards for its financial performance, human resources programs, and unit-link fund performance. For his contributions, Edy Tuhirman was recently voted as the Best CEO of 2016 by SWA Group.
Edy Tuhirman earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Brawijaya, Malang. His background in engineering allows him to have a fresh point of view of Indonesia’s insurance industry, which has helped Generali Indonesia to become one of the fastest growing life insurance providers in the country. He also holds an MBA from the Institute of Management Development of Indonesia (IPMI) Jakarta. In addition, he is a Certified Professional Marketer (CPM) which is recognized by the Asia Pacific Marketing Federation, as well as a Fellow of Life Management Institute (FLMI) “With Distinction”.
