Aidil is a technoprenuer with a great interest in the Fintech sector. In late 2014, together with his co-founder, he founded UangTeman.com, the first online short-term loan service provider in Indonesia with a quick, transparent and reliable process. UangTeman helps Indonesians to access small, short-term loans for individuals to meet their needs such as medical bills, school fees and more.
Before the founding of UangTeman, Aidil founded and built up Kreditaja.com (a financial product comparison portal) where he constantly received feedback from people who failed to obtain loans due to the specific, inflexible, and stringent requirements that banks and financial institutions impose. This gap that is not met by the mainstream banks and financial institutions led Aidil to found UangTeman with the goal of providing that safe and transparent financial relief to Indonesians. He believes that by providing short-term loans in a transparent, fair, and safe manner will empower Indonesians to fulfil their socio-economic goals that they otherwise would not be able to reach having limited access to credit. On a larger scale, Aidil hopes that his model is able to contribute in raising the socio-economic standards of people in Indonesia by bringing the under-banked to a stage where they are able to progress up the financial access ladder.
Since 2015, Aidil has managed to lead UangTeman to record an average annual growth for almost 300% and keep the NPL rate below 3%. Throughout 2018, UangTeman had disbursed around IDR 430 Billion to its customers and acquire 68K new customers. In 2017, UangTeman also successfully secured Series A funding round.
Prior to the founding of UangTeman, Aidil worked as a commercial lawyer at Duane Morris & Selvam LLP. His first fintech startup, KreditAja.com and LoanGarage.com, was acquired by Moneysmart.sg in late 2014.
Aidil holds a bachelors degree in law (with honours) from the National University of Singapore, and currently divides his time between Indonesia and Singapore – the two markets that he is extremely familiar with.
During his free time, he pens his views on the general startup and fintech landscape at his personal blog: www.aidil.ceo. He is also an active advisor for early start-ups and a volunteer legal counsel at the Cat Welfare Society of Singapore
